Giving Q&A

Q: Is my gift tax deductible?

A: Probably. Gifts to 501(c)(3) organizations are generally tax deductible if you itemize deductions. We're not attorneys or tax preparers, so you might want to talk to one of those just to be sure.

Q: What will The Table do with my donation?

A: Hopefully quite a lot. We've purposefully kept overhead expenses low. We don't have any paid staff. We are blessed with a lot of logistical help from our parent church. Right now, 100% of all donations cover rent, food, and supplies for our weekly community dinner. In the future, as financial support from our community allows, we intend to choose some initiatives we can take on together that will further help those in need in our community. We're just getting started, so those plans aren't formalized, but we can tell you for sure that your donation will go toward these community initiatives, not salaries or logistics.

Here is what we do with your donation today:

  • Rent Food, A/V equipment, and consumables for our Northgate Community Dinner.
  • Signs, banners, advertising, and web hosting (minimal).

Q: Why am I sending my money to Shoreline Community Church?

A: We partnered with SCC to launch The Table. Visit the Partners page to learn more.

Q: I would like The Table to start a specific group or "ministry." Can I designate some money so you can make that happen?

A: Probably not. Our goal at The Table is to empower people in our community to do the work of the ministry, not create a centralized clearinghouse of groups and "ministries." It's a little different than what you may have experienced before. Take a look at this page for more info:
